Lake Park

2025 Samar, Ukraine 2,3 ha

The project transforms a post-Soviet holiday base into a contemporary recreational complex. The client’s main request was to create a new-class destination on the basis of the existing infrastructure, uniting disparate structures built since the Soviet era without a coherent vision, and to unlock the exceptional potential of the site — a river bend with its own lake, which became the identity and heart of the project.

The first phase (March–September 2025) included: a 5-year master plan, a comprehensive landscape and site strategy, the construction of a reception with lobby bar, an administrative building with conference hall, the reconstruction of the existing summer restaurant, a new riverside restaurant, outdoor pool and spa zones, as well as new and renovated hotel buildings.

The key architectural solution was the use of a single facade material — untreated spruce wood, which weathers naturally into a noble silver-gray tone. This unifies the diverse architectural forms into one harmonious language while preserving their individuality.

The centerpiece of the landscape is the lake: a new wooden promenade, fishing pavilions, a waterfall, and an inclusive amphitheater terrace for public events. The panoramic window of the lobby bar opens directly to the water, reflecting the rippling surface and deepening the dialogue between architecture and nature.

The summer restaurant reconstruction aimed to create a more human-scaled, intimate atmosphere: the large hall was divided into three smaller spaces. Wood is used in both interior and exterior, while new views toward the tennis courts were opened. An amphitheater was added, becoming a new public space and a place for spectators during competitions.
